Inception

Getting this project off the ground has been on my mind for quite some time now. Ever since I became aware that I was "different" I have been eager to share my perceptions of the world around me. I've recently been following two blogs in particular with profound interest: sociopathworld.com and psychopathicwritings.com. I have found both to be invaluable sources of information and what's most exciting is that the author's themselves claim to write from personal experience. This is something I wish to do as well in an effort to give readers an insider's perspective on the personality disorder known as sociopathy. I will present my opinions, experience, and projections in addition to providing any relevant subject matter which I come across.

It is my hope to inform readers of the truth regarding sociopathy/psychopathy which I am certain can only be found from someone who has the disorder. I've always found it strange that doctors have tried to make exact statements about a condition which most if not all will never experience. Let me try an analogy: If a man has cancer, who do you believe could give you a more accurate description of the experience? His doctor? Or the patient himself? The doctor may have more insight into the technical aspects of the disease but he couldn't give you a precise, colorful summation of how it truly felt to experience it. That is something that only the patient alone could offer you. The doctor can spout off with his medical vocabulary all day long but at the end of the day it's the patient saying "It feels like getting kicked in the stomach all day, continuously" that is going to resonate with you.

Similarly, sociopathy can best be described by those who have it -- not those who diagnose it. And truth be told, there isn't much in the way of this right now which is yet another reason why I've decided to throw my hat into the mix. I think "normal" people should have a chance to peak behind the figurative mask. Perhaps with a little honestly they will find that what they see isn't quite so disturbing afterall. I am very excited about the potential I see in this project and so I hope you'll come along for the ride.
